We
are pleased to report that the City of Carlisle received NO
VIOLATIONS on it's water supply the year 2004.
We will
continue to strive for this goal.
The
City’s water supply source is a shallow alluvial sand and gravel
aquifer. It is tapped
by four wells that range in depth from 48’ to 56’ and that
have a combined pumping capacity of approximately 800 gallons per
minute. A fifth well
with a pumping capacity of 500 gallons per minute is planned for
construction in 2004. The
system’s elevated storage capacity is 350,000 gallons and its
average daily consumption is 350,000 gallons with a peak daily
consumption of approximately 500,000 gallons.
It is estimated that the output of the treatment facility
can be increased approximately 20% over current demand without
major modifications. The
average water quality produced at the City’s water treatment
plant is less than .1 mg/l iron, less than .05 mg/l manganese and
less than 280 mg/l or 16 grains per gallon hardness.
The current water rate, established in August 2002 is $5.50
per each 1,000 gallons with a minimum monthly bill of $5.50.
Monthly Rate: The monthly rate is
$5.50 for each
one thousand (1,000) gallons used per month with a minimum of
$5.50.
Bulk Rate: The bulk water rate is twenty-five cents
($.25) per thirty (30) gallons for water picked up at the water
treatment plant. This service is coin operated and provided
on the back side of the plant.
Outside City Rate: The rate for water provided to
consumers outside of the City of Carlisle is $11.00 per one (1000)
thousand gallons used per month.
STORM & SANITARY SEWER
DEPT
The Carlisle wastewater treatment facility is a four
cell aerated lagoon system with direct discharge to the Des Moines
River. It was
expanded and upgraded in 1995-96 and has a design capacity of
1,500,000 gallons per day. The
current average daily loading is 400,000 gallons with a peak daily
load capacity of 5,750,000 gallons.
The current sewer rate, established in August 2002 consists
of a basic service fee of $10.00 per month and a user unit charge
rate of $2.75 per each 1,000 gallons.
