MAYORAL PROCLAMATION

85th Anniversary of North Municipal Park
May 2007

WHEREAS, a number of the townspeople of Carlisle donated money to purchase land which was given to the City of Carlisle for use as North Municipal Park in 1922, and  

WHEREAS, North Municipal Park was originally dedicated as a City Park on May 13 and 14, 1922, and

WHEREAS, North Municipal Park hosts the annual Garden Party in late spring, the annual 4^th of July Celebration and the annual Concert in the Park in late summer, and

WHEREAS, North Municipal Park features the Veterans Memorial Honor Roll, a restored log cabin, walking trails, community gardens, picnic shelters, a bandstand, a ball field a playground and access to the North River, and

WHEREAS, May 2007 marks the 85^th Anniversary of the establishment and dedication of North Municipal Park,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Ruth Randleman, Mayor of the City of Carlisle, Iowa do hereby proclaim May 2007 as the 85^th Anniversary of the establishment and dedication of North Municipal Park, and that I further extend an invitation to the townspeople of Carlisle and residents of the surrounding area to celebrate the 85^th Anniversary of the establishment and dedication of North Municipal Park during the 2007 Garden Party on June 2^nd and during the 2007 4^th of July Celebration.
