Stumbo Property

Prior to becoming a city park, the land was owned by William C. Stumbo one of the earliest pioneers and residents of the area.  The photo below is from 1913.

STUMBO PROPERTY

The men appear to be cutting wood. They are are all related by marriage (many of which married Stumbo sisters) or descent. They are on the William C. Stumbo property, which is now near the railroad which was later purchased by the city of Carlisle, IA for what is currently the City Park.
