service from Carlisle to Southridge Mall and to the SE 14th

at the stop at least five (5) minutes before the scheduled
departure.
Free park and ride spaces are available at the Carlisle City
Hall, 195 N. 1st Street and at the Downtown Trailhead
on Garfield Street behind Gary’s Barber Shop.

NEW SPEED LIMITS AT
CARLISLE MIDDLE SCHOOL
AND
NEW PARKING REGULATIONS
AT CARLISLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL |

|
Speed limits have been reduced in order to provide the
safest possible environment for students and parents at the new
Carlisle Middle School on Scotch Ridge Road in Carlisle.
The speed limit has been reduced from fifty-five miles per
hour (55 mph) to thirty-five miles per hour (35 mph) starting from
a point five hundred feet (500’) southwest of Bellflower Drive
and ending at the intersection of Bellflower Drive and Scotch
Ridge Road. In the school zone itself, between Bellflower Drive and
Highway 5, the speed limit has been further reduced to twenty-five
miles per hour (25 mph). Carlisle
Police will be issuing warnings to violators for a period of three
(3) months after school starts on August 22.
Parking regulations
have also been changed
in order to reduce congestion and increase safety at the Carlisle
Elementary School. A
new no-parking zone has been established along the west side of
South 5th Street between School Street and Highway 5
and the mid-block pedestrian crosswalk at the southwest gate to
the elementary school has been removed. The existing no-parking zone on the east side of South 5th
Street will remain in place and will also continue to be
designated as a loading zone.
The enforcement procedure will be to prohibit parking and
loading at all times on the west side of South 5th
Street and to prohibit parking at all times on the east side of
South 5th Street.
In this way the loading zone for dropping off and picking
up students will be the east lane of South 5th, the
north bound driving lane will be the center lane of South 5th
and the south bound driving lane will be the west lane of South 5th.
Enforcement of the new parking regulations will begin
immediately.

WHAT CAN YOU GET
FOR A BUCK A MONTH ?
-
How many
times have you said, "We need more commercial development
to keep property taxes down"? Well, you're exactly
right. We all know Carlisle needs to be more aggressive
in marketing itself to commercial and industrial
prospects. The fact is, our tax base is 70%
residential compared to Clive at 51% and West Des Moines at
48%.
-
Now,
instead of just talking about it, you actually have an
opportunity to do something about it. You have the
opportunity to make a voluntary investment in Carlisle's
future and it only costs $1.

-
Make a
"Buck a Month" investment today by checking the
checkmark on the back of your city utility bill. Your
voluntary investment of $1 per month will be used exclusively
for the economic development of Carlisle.

-
How
will that help? We have over 1200 utility
accounts. Do the math. That's 1200 x $1 x 12
months = $14,400 a year directed to economic development
compared to the $3,000 a year we have now.
-
As
property owners we have a vested interest in the future of
Carlisle. An investment of $1 a month to increase our
tax base and decrease our tax rate just
makes good sense.
-
Turn
your utility bill over when you get it and put a checkmark in
the box.
