Carlisle Volunteer Fire and Rescue

The Carlisle Fire Department was established in 1938 and rescue services were added in 1972. 

The Carlisle Fire and Rescue handles fire protection and provides emergency medical services (EMS) within the city and the surrounding rural area.  The department runs around 400 fire and emergency medical calls a year.  The department is made up of 20 volunteers which include 7 medics and 16 firefighters.  Some of the volunteers are both.

The department provides many non-emergency services as well.  These services include: inspection of smoke detectors, providing fire safety training to elementary students, teachings child seat restrain safety and  teaching classes in first aid and CPR.  In addition, the department provides a rescue on stand-by at all high school football games and participates in mock vehicle accident scene construction, at the high school, to demonstrate the hazards of drinking and driving.
