residents are reminded that the City has an animal protection and control
ordinance that outlines the following responsibilities of pet owners:
SNOW EMERGENCY PARKING ORDINANCE -The snow emergency parking ordinance goes into effect immediately when the National Weather Service predicts that 2 or more inches of snow or ice will fall, or has fallen, in the Carlisle area. It stays in effect for 24 hours or until the roads have been cleared and all snow and blowing has stopped. Any vehicle left on the roadway during this period can be ticketed and if it is interfering with snow removal, it may be towed and impounded at the owner's expense. MOTORIZED SCOOTERS AND ELECTRIC BICYCLES - While sales in Iowa are legal, most of these products cannot be legally operated on the streets, roadways or sidewalks. Most do not meet the requirements under state law for vehicle registration and licensing. Iowa Department of Transportation JUNK AND JUNK VEHICLES - It is unlawful for any person to store, accumulate, or allow to remain on any private property any junk or junk vehicles. Junked vehicle means any vehicle that is unlicensed or legally registered as "in storage" that has any broken or cracked glass, window, light or taillight; any broken or loose parts; which has become habitat for animals, rodents, or insects; or which contains flammable fluids. CITY CODE - CHAPTER 143. PARKING TRAILERS ON STREET - It is unlawful to park any non-motorized trailer, utility trailer, camper trailer, boat trailer, construction trailer, semi-trailer, that is disconnected from it's towing vehicle, on any public street. CITY CODE - CHAPTER 69 SEC 17 ALCOHOL PROHIBITED IN PARKS - The possession or consumption of any alcoholic beverage or beer is prohibited on all city property including parks. NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT SCHOOLS OR ON PUBLIC STREETS - State Code prohibits the consumption or possession of any alcoholic beverage or beer on any public school property and use or consumption of alcoholic beverages on public streets or highways. IOWA CODE SECTION 123.46 HOUSE NUMBERS - All buildings, residences, and mobile homes must be numbered. Numerals should be a minimum of four (4) inches in height and mounted to the front wall or porch of the building so that the number is clearly visible from the street. This is to necessary to expedite the correct location by emergency services units. OUTDOOR BURNING - NO outdoor burning is allowed on Sundays. Burning is allowed: Mon thru Sat (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.) from: Mar 15th to Jun 1st., and Sep15th to Dec 1st.. Only natural yard waste can be burned. It is unlawful to burn household trash, garbage, tires, paint, or petroleum products. No burning is allowed in the street or ditches. CITY CODE SECTION: 105.05(1) VISION OBSTRUCTION - Bushes and landscaping on street corners should be no more than 2 1/2 ft. in height or obstruct the view at an intersection and should not cover or conceal traffic control signs such as stop signs.
